A summer day
Diamond_Dancer has found her way into the castle again. Hurray. If the guards could toss her out, they most certainly would, but things have eased lately with the rumor that Diamond's star no longer grants the little pipsqueak's wishes. The tiny filly is clambering past the throne room, looking about curiously. "...Alright Nightshade. I know you'se is dare. You'se is always sneakin around behind me! Come out!" She squeaks
Nightshade, for once, is out in the open, sitting on her appointed spot at the foot of the throne, while perusing a chart of the Palace with some of the servants. "Very good, very good. I believe we can accelerate to the next phase of reinforcements. Let the forepony know that I am authorizing it." She magicks a small envelope out of the shadows and brings it to the senior servant, a unicorn mare, and the group departs for their assignments. Nightshade remains behind, still looking at the chart when she speaks next. "How may I help you, Ms. Dancer?"
Diamond_Dancer tilts her head. "Oh! Dare you'se are! I wanna talk about da Bug Bear! You'se is totally like, sneakin around all da time! I wanted to know if you'se knew where it came from?! Also, do you'se know anyding about wumpaseseses?!" She squeaks with big bright hopeful eyes. "And how I might be able ta catch one now dat my star don't work no more. Wait, you'se know my star don't work no more right? You'se and dat secret council ain't chasin' me no more, right? Little kid. Big mouth. ...
"Our business is not within the purview of anypony else saves the Princesses," says Nightshade, still looking down. "As for the monsters, the Everfree Forest is a known breeding ground of a variety of maleficences. Perhaps if you directed your investigations towards that subject you may discover something."
Diamond_Dancer tilts her head to one side curiously, a look of pure confusion etching across the fillies face. "What? No, nononono, I'm ain't talkin' about Evahfree. I mean da bugbear! You know dat monstah ding dat was flyin around town? Also Wumpas. Wum-pas. It's kinda...um...a biggish...sorta small...It's got arms...smells funny...?
"That is precisely what I mean," says Nightshade. "The most reputable theory on the bugbear's origins involves hidden magical zones within the Everfree. As for the wumpus, there are no independent sources corroborating the existence of such a creature."
Diamond_Dancer stares. "......You'se talk funny. So, you'se didn't ansah my question about your supah secret shadow council! Are you'se guys still interested in chasin me? Cause I ain't so magical no more. " She explains, which is quite honestly, a complete and total lie.
Nightshade looks up and looks Diamond in the eyes, her own eyes swirling with something dark and otherworldly. "When the End comes, the stars will fall from the sky, the earth will be torn asunder, and the oceans will be rank with sulphur and poison. Until then, the power of the universe persists, in whatever form." As she continues to speak her eyes settle back into their regular appearance, and it is like nothing odd ever happened. "Since you persist in asking: no, you are not allowed to know anything about our 'secret shadow council', and yes, I do know about the 1.5 gigamerlins you are now emitting on our manacaster, but really what did you expect?"
Diamond_Dancer just sort of...stares. "...Riiiiiight. Dats creepy. "She sputters, taking a step back nervously, ears splaying against her skull. "I'm gonna.....go..."She says sheepishly, gesturing towards the main doors.
Nightshade does nothing to stop her. She continues to sit in her place, tracing outlines on the map before her with her hoof. "Do not be so carefree with your new power, Ms. Dancer. You may attract the wrong kind of attention."
Diamond_Dancer turns slightly and gives the most sheepish of grins. (I need an adult) "Ahhahahaha....I'll...make sure not to do dat...
"A wise choice," says Nightshade. "Please, send Ms. Velvet my regards once she has, ah, gathered herself again." With that, she returns to the business of running the Palace, or so it would seem.
